Independent Houston-based production company SWD Productions, LLC is proud to announce the debut of Shooting Stars, a five episode documentary-style show to premiere on FOX Sports Houston and FOX Sports Southwest on Tuesday, August 3^rd at 5pm CST.

Shooting Stars tells the universal story of passion and hope; courage and fear; heartbreak and success. Since June of 2009, SWD principal Greg Ferris and his team have followed young soccer players as they try to fulfill their dreams of one day becoming professionals.  From their home lives through the grueling Elite Camp tryouts and beyond, Houston Dynamo Academy hopefuls compete to make the Houston Dynamo Academy Team, with the hope of ultimately making the Houston Dynamo itself.

Shooting Stars will air Tuesdays in August at 5pm CST on FOX Sports Houston and FOX Sports Southwest, with multiple rebroadcasts throughout the week on FOX Sports Houston.  The two networks combined cover Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana, reaching nearly 8.6 million homes.

About the Houston Dynamo Academy
Founded in 2007, the Dynamo Academy U-18 squad consists of the best youth players in the Houston area 18 years of age and younger. The team trains four days per week in a professional environment and competes in the United States Soccer Federation Development Academy league, the most competitive youth league in the country.

Since the inception of the Houston Dynamo Academy, two players, Tyler Deric and Francisco Navas Cobo, have been signed off of the Dynamo Academy roster to play for the first team Houston Dynamo.

The Houston Dynamo are adding a regional level to their successful Dynamo Youth Development System, presented by Statoil, it was announced today. The Dynamo are partnering with youth clubs to form six Dynamo Juniors programs to help soccer grow in the southern United States, totaling more than 1,000 players.

Dynamo Juniors programs in Mobile, Alabama; Gulfport, Mississippi; Gulf Breeze, Florida; Lafayette, Louisiana; El Paso, Texas; and the Rio Grande Valley will help grow soccer in those regions and give more players a chance to realize their dreams with the Dynamo. Two Houston-area products have already made their way to the professional Dynamo via the Dynamo Academy, and now players from four more states will have similar opportunities.

“What we are aiming to do is expand our player pool in terms of identification of players, but also have an impact in the growth and development of the sport,” James Clarkson, Dynamo Director of Youth Development. “This will impact all levels, from grassroots all the way through elite players.”

Clarkson is traveling to each location to launch the programs, beginning with El Paso today. Dynamo Juniors teams will compete at high levels and develop skilled players who have access to opportunities for soccer development within the Dynamo organization. The teams are also expected to travel to Houston at least once per year to compete against each other and showcase their skills.
